Newport Aikido, in Middletown, RI, offers traditional training in Aikido. Sensei Jay Carvalho is dojo cho and has been training in Aikido since 1995. There are classes held every day (Sundays vary) for a flat tuition fee of $80/month. Instruction is provided at all levels -- from beginner to advanced. All classes have the same intent: to encourage students to learn and explore Aikido and to develop a martial spirit in an atmosphere of support and respect.

The Japanese sword art, Iaido, is also taught at Newport Aikido. The sword style taught in the dojo is Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu (JKI). Elements of Itto Ryu Kenjutsu (Samurai Swordsmanship) are also taught.
